Hi, everyone! I’m excited to announce you that Jack Quaid Web has a new amazing domain: jack-quaid.com. Anyway, you can still access jackquaid.net, but the new URL will be the main one!
The Boys are back in town as stars of the hit Amazon Prime superhero series tease the beginning of filming for season 4.
The cast and crew behind the Emmy-nominated TV series, adapted from the comic book of the same name, took to social media to post cryptic photos and captions.
Jack Quaid, who plays Hughie, posted a photo to Instagram alongside The Butcher actor Karl Urban with the caption ‘it begins’. The 30-year-old actor also posted a picture of himself on an airplane, writing: ‘Ah s**t, here we go again. #season4.’
The Boys star is leading the lineup of Echoverse’s Grim Death & Bill The Electrocuted Criminal series, which comes from Hellboy’s Mike Mignola and author Thomas Sniegoski.
Mignola and Sniegoski are adapting their novel into an audio drama series. Quaid will star as Bentley Hawthorne, aka Grim Death, who works in the service of Death, avenging the wrongful deaths of those in need of justice. Helping him are an acerbic raven named Roderick, his wry and long-suffering butler Pym, headstrong and intelligent investigative journalist Gwendolyn, and the subject of the first season’s investigation, Bill, a strong but gentle man who has been wrongfully convicted of the murder of his trapeze-artist girlfriend Tianna.
Quaid plays Hughie Campbell in the Amazon superhero series The Boys, which is heading into production on its fourth season. He also recently starred in the latest Scream film and voices a character in Paramount+’s animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks. He also recently wrapped Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and will voice the upcoming animated series My Adventures with Superman.
Mignola, Sniegoski, Quaid and Peter J Donaldson will exec produce the series, which is produced by Wolf At The Door, which recently worked on recent Spotify series Batman Unburied.
It is Echoverse’s latest scripted series following The Lesser Dead starring Minnie Driver and Jack Kilmer. The company was launched by Lloyd Braun’s Whalerock Industries, and is run by former Syfy executive Mark Stern.
“Mike and Tom have turned their quirky and imaginative novel into a superlative audio drama that we’re excited to put into production. I can’t think of a better actor to take on the role of Bentley than Jack Quaid,” said Stern.
As we previously learned during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, when Jack Quaid and Tawny Newsom crashed the SDCC Strange New Worlds panel they announced that their respective Star Trek: Lower Decks characters, Boimler and Mariner were going to appear as live-action versions of themselves for a crossover event in season two of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which will also be directed by Star Trek: The Next Generation veteran actor and director Jonathan Frakes. But at the time we didn’t know anything about “Spoimler?”
Let me explain. That’s what you get when Lieutenant Spock and Ensign Boimler have a ‘bromance for the ages! So, ‘Spoimler’ is Spock – Boimler, and the bonding hijinks that ensue. The name was adopted by the pair (Peck and Quaid) as they hit it off and had a ball during the shoot.
And, at least one nagging question that was asked earlier this month in another update, “What color will Boimler’s live-action hair be?” has been answered. According to Quaid on being in character with uniform and hair, he says: ‘[Boimler] holds such a special place in my heart. He’s one of my favorite characters I’ve ever played, but to be able to fully inhabit him, put on the uniform, make my hair purple, all that stuff, that was such a good time.” But as much of an honor as it was, the uniforms have a high “sweaty” factor. “I figured it would be sweaty, but that thing is not breathable. It looked really good, but there were those first few fittings where I had the purple hair, I had the uniform on… it just blew my mind…”
He further went on to explain how he added a bit of Boimler’s animated movements into his live-action performance, so the character would be even more recognizable.
